StudyCrew, a Nigerian startup, has introduced an AI-powered education technology platform that aims to alter how students study, interact, and stay productive.
Josiah Dhev, a cybersecurity student, founded StudyCrew last year as an AI-powered, gamified learning platform with the goal of making studying more entertaining and consistent for students. It blends AI tutors, study streaks, progress tracking, and social learning elements to help students learn more effectively and stay motivated, particularly in distraction-rich surroundings.
“It started as a personal idea to solve motivation and consistency issues in student learning and has since grown into a structured product currently in development with a small founding team focused on product, growth, and community, Most learning platforms focus heavily on content delivery, but not on consistency, engagement, or habit-building, Students often struggle with attention and motivation, especially in African education systems where digital learning tools are still limited ” said Dhev.
“We are currently in early development and pre-scale phase, focusing on product building, feedback collection, and preparing for wider user onboarding and campus rollout, We are focused on the Nigerian student market as our initial testing ground, with expansion plans into other African countries and eventually global student markets once core features are stabilised.” Dhev said.
While competitors include Duolingo, Khan Academy, and a variety of ed-tech applications, StudyCrew prioritizes long-term learning habits through gamification and AI customisation across courses over single-skill acquisition.
The self-funded firm already has over 200 customers, including those from Africa, India, and the United Kingdom (UK), and is currently onboarding universities and high schools.
StudyCrew’s monetization strategy will include a freemium approach, with premium AI features, advanced analytics, and institutional subscriptions planned for future releases.
