Gabon has created Kimba Connect, a national innovation platform that encourages collaboration between current enterprises, technical startups, and other actors in the country’s digital economy.
The Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalization, and Innovation launched the effort as part of Gabon’s larger digital-transformation strategy. It will connect business concerns to technologies and services offered by local businesses.
Businesses will be able to use the platform to find Gabonese entrepreneurs who can help them solve operational and commercial difficulties. The government expects these collaborations to spur innovation, encourage local talent, and boost the private sector’s competitiveness.
The event brings together government representatives, corporate executives, investors, incubators, new companies, and institutional allies. The topics of discussion included open innovation, access to financing, corporate-startup alliances, and the impact of digital technology on economic growth.
Mark-Alexandre Doumba, Minister of Digital Economy, Digitalization, and Innovation, remarked that innovation must solve practical needs while also establishing long-term connections between businesses, startups, and skilled individuals.
Several key collaboration agreements were also signed from the start. These agreements aim to encourage innovation-driven projects and strengthen collaboration in Gabon’s technology industry.
According to the government, Kimba Connect might help to achieve sustainable growth, greater economic independence, and the establishment of locally based technology enterprises capable of competing on a national and worldwide scale.
