AethexAI Raises $3 Million Pre-Seed Funding to Advance Voice AI in Africa and the Middle East

Voice AI startup AethexAI has secured $3 million in pre-seed funding to build localised customer support automation for Africa and the Middle East. 4DX Ventures led the investment, which included Enza Capital, Dorm Room Fund, Mojo Ventures, and the Stanford GSB ’26 Fund, as well as angel investors such as Stanford teachers, telecom executives, and Anthropic AI researchers.

AethexAI, founded in 2025 by Mariama Diallo and Ayooluwa Odemuyiwa, is developing its own small-model architecture, the Kora series, with parameters ranging from 300 million to 1.7 billion, to reduce latency and better handle regional dialects of English, French, and Arabic. The startup focuses on high-volume enterprise use cases including KYC verification, debt collection, and client activation, and now handles over 17,000 calls each day. The extra funding will go toward enterprise rollout, APIs, SDKs, and regional expansion.
