Village Capital has successfully completed its three-year Empowering Sustainable Entrepreneurship Africa (ESEA) initiative, which provided USD 500K in grant funding to 32 climate-focused entrepreneurs throughout the continent.
The programme, implemented in collaboration with the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), enhanced locally driven business ecosystems in Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, and Tanzania. Village Capital funded 14 ecosystem builders through ESEA before partnering with five organisations in 2025 to provide investment ready programs to 150 climate businesses.
Climate adaptation firms received the most investment, totaling USD 225K, followed by food security ($125K), the blue economy ($100K), and renewable energy ($50K).
Village Capital stated that the effort demonstrated how empowering local ecosystem builders increases startup access to crucial networks, funding opportunities, and long-term success.
