Egypt’s Flat6Labs, the IFC, and Algeria’s Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-Enterprises have created StartAlgeria, a capacity-building program that positions entrepreneur support organizations (ESOs) at the vanguard of the country’s ecosystem future.
StartAlgeria arrives at a critical juncture in Algeria’s entrepreneurship landscape, shifting the focus to improving how ESOs operate by providing them with international best practices tailored to each organization’s needs, a community-driven approach that emphasizes peer learning, and facilitating connections with investors, policymakers, and key stakeholders.
The initiative is intended to provide Algerian ESOs that support pre-seed and seed-stage businesses with the experience, frameworks, and networks required to contribute to a better, more competitive entrepreneurship ecosystem in Algeria and expand into global markets.
StartAlgeria will test a first cohort centered on incubators in the city, Algiers. Following a call for applications, the selected ESOs will go through a structured program that includes workshops and masterclasses on topics such as startup selection, program design and delivery, and investment preparedness.
In addition to the main curriculum, participating ESOs will receive six months of post-programme mentorship on topics such as fundraising strategy, relationship growth, financial sustainability, and program enhancement. The purpose of this ongoing engagement is to have a long-term impact on how Algerian ESOs work and what they can deliver to the companies they support.
